This is a Summer picture of a pair of American Black Vultures on the beach of Vulture Island on the Withlacoochie River in Sumter County, Florida. The Black Vulture is a large bird with a 4.9 foot wingspan, but is a relatively small for a Vulture. It has black plumage, a featherless, grayish-black Head and neck, and a short hooked beak. This picture was taken on July 16, 2018.
