Montenegro - A state in south-eastern Europe, on the Adriatic coast of the Balkan Peninsula.     Washed by the Adriatic Sea, is bordered by Croatia to the west, Bosnia and Herzegovina - in the northwest, Serbia - in the northeast, partially recognized the Republic of Kosovo - in the east and Albania to the southeast.      Until June 2006, it was part of a confederal State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, occupying 13.5% of its total territory.
