TheÃÂ Indian Ocean oriental sweetlips,ÃÂ Plectorhinchus vittatus, is aÃÂ speciesÃÂ ofÃÂ gruntÃÂ native to theÃÂ Indian OceanÃÂ and the westernÃÂ Pacific Ocean. This species can be found on both coral and rockÃÂ reefsÃÂ at depths from 2 to 25ÃÂ m 6.6 to 82.0ÃÂ ft.The Indian Ocean oriental sweetlips reach up to 72 cm 28 in in SL. Juveniles are striped black. As they age, the stripes in the tail are replaced by black dots on a yellow background. |
