Puckett Cabin; Home of Orelena Hawks Puckett. She lived here in the latter years of her life, Mrs. Puckett lived 102 years and for the last 52 years of her life she was a midwife she helped deliver over 100 babies. Although her fee was around $1:00 even in 1890s she was often paid in goods of some that kind she often would share with others. Born in 1837 Orelena Hawks died in 1939 at the age of 102, Puckett Cabin is on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia North of Hillsville Virginia. information is from the plaque at the cabin posted by the National Parks Service
