These seacliffs made of Old red Sandstone are close to the Old Man of Hoy, one of the Orkney islands’ most well-known natural curiosities. The cliffs are a haven for several seabird species, amongst them the Northern fulmar Fulmarus glacialis. The Rackwick Bay area is part of an RSPB protected area, Hoy Nature Reserve.
