Sluice Dokkumer New Zijlen a lock in the hamlet Dokkumer New Zijlen for the drainage of the Frisian basins on the Dokkumerdiep, which communicates with the Lauwersmeer. The lock complex was built under the direction of the Frysian engineerer Loré (1679-1744) and consisted of two sluices and a lock for shipping. In honor of the completion of the complex a monument consisting of a pedestal with an obelisk on four balls was erected on the embankment.
