Hailing from the family Leporidae, the primary rabbit in North Texas is the eastern cottontail, Sylvilagus floridanus. The smallest of Lone Star rabbits, it rarely weighs more than three pounds. Its cousin the swamp rabbit Sylvilagus aquaticus, found in East Texas, is double that size. |
