Norbulingka is a national key cultural relics protection unit, located in the western suburbs of Lhasa, Xizang. Founded in the 1840s (Dalai Lama VII), it is a typical Tibetan style garden where successive Dalai Lamas spent their summers managing their affairs. After more than two hundred years of expansion, the entire park covers an area of 360000 square meters and has over 100 types of plants. Not only are there common flowers and trees in Lhasa, but there are also exotic flowers and plants taken from the southern and northern foothills of the Himalayas, as well as precious flowers transplanted from mainland China or imported from abroad, making it a plateau botanical garden. The buildings are mainly Gesang Pozhang, Golden Pozhang and Dadeng Mingjiu Pozhang, with 374 rooms. It is the largest, best scenic and most historic garden in Xizang. Norbulingka means treasure garden. [1-3]
