St. Ninian`s Isle in the Shetland Islands is linked to the mainland by a sand tombolo or natural causeway with the sea on either side. The important early medieval St Ninian`s Isle Treasure of silver objects was discovered under the church floor in 1958. To the right of the image can be seen the hamlets of Bigton and Ireland
