Pictured is a large Nile crocodile basking in the sun near the edge of the Chobe River in the Chobe National Park in Botswana, Africa. Nile crocodiles are opportunistic apex predators. A very aggressive crocodile, they are capable of taking almost any animal within their range. The binomial name is Crocodylus niloticus. It was photographed from the Chobe River on a safari boat from the historic Chobe Game Lodge.
