Paddy Dancers(Goyan Netuma) perform during the Esala Perahera in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The Paddy Dance represents the harvesting of the crop with sickles and showcases the pride of prosperity received when timely rains occur. The dance is accompanied by a background of Panchaturyanada (five instruments played in ancient Sri Lanka) which also displays the piety towards the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha.
