A sideview of the Asansor, an elevator building built in 1907 by Jewish banker and trader Nesim Levi. It is located in the Karatas quarter of Izmir, Turkey. It was a public service in order to ease passage from the narrow coastline of KarataÅŸ to the hillside. The elevator within the building served to carry people and goods through the steep cliff between the two parts of the quarter.
