Squacco Heron Ardeola ralloides. It is a bird species belonging to the heron (Ardeidae) family. It has a stocky appearance and is the smallest species of heron birds. It lives in lowland valleys, wet valleys, deltas, wetlands, freshwater channels, pools and lakes, and ditches surrounded by plants. It feeds on fish and especially water insects. It typically stands leaning forward and motionless on the edges of water with dense vegetation or on weeds on the water. It flies in a flurry with its shining white wings.
