Tanjung Tinggi Granite is part of the Trias Tanjungpandan Granite unit on Belitung Island, which formed during the Triassic period, around 200 to 250 million years ago. This granite unit is part of the larger Southeast Asia granite belt, which stretches from Myanmar to Belitung in the southernmost part. The tin ore in this region primarily forms through granite-hosted tin deposits, with cassiterite (tin ore) being the main mineral, and in some cases, rare earth elements (REEs) are also found. These deposits are part of the larger Southeast Asia tin belt. The area is now part of the Belitong UNESCO Global Geopark, recognized for its unique geological features
