Narrow gauge railway is one of the three types of railway narrow, normal and wide gauge. The normal track is 1,435 meters wide. Everything that is smaller belongs to the narrow gauge railway. There used to be 30 types of narrow gauge railways in the world, from 0.381 to 1.397 meters. On the railways of the former Yugoslavia, the narrow gauge railways had a range of 0.435 to 1 meter. Railways 0.76 meters wide were most often used. For tram lines, according to the standards, widths of 0.5 m, 0.6 m, 0.75 m and 0.9 meters are allowed. The first 0.76-meter railway in the former Yugoslavia was built by the Austrians in 1878 in Bosnia, so the railway of that width was called Bosnian latitude. Later, railways of that type were built in Serbia as well.
