The painted bronze goose and fish lamp housed in the Shaanxi History Museum is an outstanding bronze lamp from the Western Han Dynasty. It was unearthed in 1985 in Dianta Village, Shenmu County, Shaanxi Province. The lamp, measuring 53.5 cm in height and 34 cm in length, is designed in the shape of a goose looking back and holding a fish in its beak. It consists of four parts: the goose holding the fish, the goose's body, the lamp tray, and the lampshade, which can be disassembled. The lampshade, made of two curved plates, can rotate and open close to block the wind and adjust the brightness of the light. The fish body, goose neck, and body cavity are hollow and interconnected to collect smoke and reduce indoor pollution. The goose and fish are painted with emerald green, and the top of the goose's head is decorated with a red crown, making the whole lamp look gorgeous. This bronze lamp not only shows the advanced casting technology of the Han Dynasty but also reflects the ancient environmental awareness.
