A plane joint, also known as a gliding joint or arthrodial joint, is a synovial joint that allows bones to slide past each other in a single plane. Plane joints are made up of two bones that are flat or nearly flat, with tight joint capsules that limit movement. The flat surfaces of the bones move back and forth against each other, allowing for gliding and sliding movements.
