| The manacá-da-serra is a semi-deciduous tree native to the Atlantic Forest, which quickly became popular in landscaping due to its spectacular flowering. Its size is short to medium, reaching from 6 to 12 m in height and about 25 cm in trunk diameter. The leaves are lanceolate, hairy, dark green and with parallel longitudinal ribs. The flowers are solitary and are large, showy and durable. They bloom with white color and gradually become violet, passing through pink. This feature means that flowers of three colors can be seen on the same plant. |
