| Majestic Mount Moran with its jagged peaks and small glaciers on a clear September day with a deep haze on the horizon from unchecked Canadian Forest Fires. The distinctive dark vein of igneous rock marks a period of volcanic activity from a long time ago. Mount St. John on the left leads up to Grand Teton. The slopes are covered in alpine fir and subalpine fir trees up to the harsh environment of the tree line above which only rocks occur. While the flats below and across Jackson Lake are covered in grasses and timber of Lodgepole pine and spruce varieties, the pothole region is mostly grasses and sage. |
