| Elabuga is a picturesque city in Tatarstan, located on the hilly banks of the Kama and Toyma rivers. Its history goes back to the Middle Ages, when in 1007 the Volga Bulgars founded a settlement here, building a stone fortress, one of the towers of which has survived to this day.
Elabuga is associated with the names of important historical figures, including the artist Shishkin, the poetess Tsvetaeva and the female officer Durova. In honor of the millennium of Elabuga, restorers and architects have carried out extensive work to update the attractions. |
