| The Male Nyala is larger than the female and also has the slightly spiralled, white-tipped horns, has slate-grey coloring with a long erectile mane of hair along the back, including a long fringe hanging from the throat to between the hind legs which are yellow-brown. The vertical white stripes on the sides vary from eight to fourteen, less than the female. They are commonly seen in small groups of rams and fawns preferring dry savanna woodland near water.
