Actress, singer, dancer, and star of stage, screen and tv, Mitzi Gaynor belts out a song in concert at the Mill Run Theater in Niles, Illinois near her hometown of Chicago in December, 1981. Gaynor, also an author, achieved international renown when she performed the lead in the film adaptation of the musical, `South Pacific.` Her role was that of `Nellie Forbush,` US Navy Ensign. Her stage show required her to change into a number of outfits and assume numerous characters. In the 1960s and 70s she was nominated for 17 Emmys for specials showcasing her remarkable talents, and she 6 times. In her later years, looking back on her long career which continued until her 80s, she joked that she would kill to be 50 again. In this image, looking great, she was 50. Gaynor died in Los Angeles on October 17, 2024, at the age of 93.
