This very interestingly beautiful house on Oak Street looks a bit out of place, like it`s missing its yard. That is because when it was originally built, about 1885, it was just around the corner on Divisadero Street.
As there are very few records it is hard to say, but it may have been at the time Divisadero was becoming more of a major street so the original owners, the Mish Family, wanted something quieter.
Sarah Mish, the wife and the mother of ten, was running a couple of very successful businesses downtown when her husband, Phenes, passed away, she kept right on with her businesses and mothering duties, until she passed, in 1916.
After the passing of Sarah, the children rented it out as apartment, then businesses. Today it is the home of social service agencies, so please be respectful of the occupants. As seen 30 June 2022.
