The Miriam Fire, located in Miriam Creek Basin,,near White Pass, seen From Darland Mountain, Mt. Rainier in Distance. Started Wednesday, August 2nd, three miles southeast of White Pass Ski Area. Burned near Clear Lake area, causing evacuations. Caused closure of parts of Pacific Crest Trail. Though caused by lightening, a natural source, extreme high temperatures around the state, early snowmelt and climate change and global warming are creating regular and extreme fire seasons in the Pacific Northwest and Washington state.
