Since 1992 - Director of the State Hermitage. Member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences. President of the Union of Museums of Russia. Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation 2017 and the President`s Prize of the Russian Federation 2003. The son of an outstanding archaeologist, a long-standing director of the Hermitage, Academician Boris Piotrovsky.
