| Meldon dam on the North Western slopes of Dartmoor was built in 1972 to supply water to the rapidly expanding town of Okehampton, the reservoir flooded an ancient mining and quarrying valley, downstream from the dam is the large open expanse of Meldon quarry which is now only worked as a small operation, the original quarry is now a haven for wildlife. |
