Nymburk (Czech Republic) is one of the few towns in which, to this day, a part of the city ramparts, with defensive gates, remains standing. It consists of a section of the fortification protecting the city by the Labe River, extremely well-preserved thanks to reconstruction in 1908-1909. The ramparts were built in the period between 1288-1335 and, with the exception of the length by the Labe, it consisted of two walls. The fortification walls were 13 meters high and 1,25 m thick, and there were about fifty towers over the entire length.
