| Built in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, this timber framed medieval building was converted in the sixteenth century by the Earl of Leicester (Elizabeth I's favourite friend) from a Guildhall to a hospital (retirement home) for wounded soldiers, which it still is today. |
