| The Phi Ta Khon ghost festival is an annual masked procession celebrated on the 1st day of a 3-day Buddhist merit making holiday in the town of Dan Sai, Loei province, Thailand. Usually held sometime between March and July, participants of the festival dress up like ghosts and monsters wearing huge masks. The procession is marked by a lot of music and dancing, and is related to the traditional folklore of one of the Buddha's previous incarnation as Prince Vessantara. |
