The first town hall in Kežmarok stood on one of the oldest streets in Kežmarok - on the Old Market. After the invasion of the Hussites in In 1433 the city partially burned down and the center moved to another part of it, where a new square was created. In its middle he built in 1461 Juraj from Spišská Sobota new Gothic town hall. After a big fire, the town hall was in 1541 - 1555 rebuilt by the master Kuntz from Kežmarok into a Renaissance form. In 1641, under the mayor Sigismund Moes, a tower was added to the town hall. According to the period description of Juraj Bohuš from r. 1720 “The town hall is finished with a battlement, the coat of arms of the city and the image of justice are painted on the south side. The tower is also decorated with ant inscriptions. During the markets, lead drums are beaten on the tower and the city trumpet player wins here ... ` In r. In 1779 the town hall burned down again and was rebuilt in the Classicist style. Today`s appearance and the extension of the second floor acquired after the last major fire in 1922.
