| San Francisco used to have over seventy movie theaters. But with the advent of the television and the move to the multiplex, the neighborhood theater could not compete. Over the years they started closing up, until today there are only nine of the original ones left. Opened in 1928 but closed in 2001, it was reincarnated in 2008. The family that owns it no also owns the Presidio and the 4Star theaters. The Marina movie theater is one of the last of the original theaters left in San Francisco. |
