The Maramures Mountains are a mountain group of the Maramures and Bucovina Carpathians, belonging to the Eastern Carpathian mountain chain. They stretch mostly on the current territory of Ukraine, and in the south on the northern territory of Romania, respectively they close the Maramures Depression to the north and east. Prislop Pass (Romanian: Pasul Prislop) is a mountain pass in northern Romania, connecting the historical regions of Maramures and Bucovina over the Rodna Mountains, in the Eastern Carpathians.The Prislop Pass is situated at an elevation of 1,416 metres. It is crossed by national road DN18, which starts in Baia Mare and ends in Iacobeni, Suceava county.
