A stone cut stairway leads to the doguba at the ancient site of Madya Mandalaya which is located around 20 kilometres from Panama on the east coast of Sri Lanka. This site is significant in that King Kawan Tissa (BC 210-161) established the Hermitage of Kudumbigala here.
