The American robin is a migratory songbird of the thrush family, and the state bird of Connecticut, Wisconsin, and Michigan. The American robin can be found throughout most of North America, from Alaska and Canada southward to northern Florida and even Mexico. The American robin is the first bird species to lay their eggs with several broods throughout the season. They lay three to five eggs of light blue color. The female robin sits solely on her eggs, hatching in after fourteen days, and chicks leaving the nest after two weeks. The male and female robin both feed and protect their fledged chicks until they can feed on their own.
