| The magnificent Pompey's Pillar at Alexandria in Egypt. Standing over 30 metres high, the red granite column with a Corinthian capital was erected in 291 AD to support a statue of Diocletin, a Roman emperor. It is virtually the only structure remaining at the Temple of Serapeum site overlooking modern Alexandria. |
