Modern dance is a kind of dance faction which rises in the West in the early 20th century and is opposite to classical ballet. Its main aesthetic point of view is to oppose the formalism tendency of classical ballet, which is conformist, divorced from real life and purely pursuing skills. He advocated that the classical ballet should be free from the fetters of too rigid movement patterns, and express people`s real feelings freely with dance movements conforming to the laws of natural movement, emphasizing that dance art should reflect modern social life.
