| The Loreley is a slate rock at the narrow Rhine passage in Mittelrheintal. South of Sankt Goar there is a huge camping site with a view to the Lorelei rock. North of the passage on the east side St. Goarshausen is located at the Taunus mountains. In Germany the exact location is called Rheinkilometer 555. The Rhine is known for the reefs and rocks even reaching above water level in this area. In ancient times many ships wrecked here and even in modern days, many accidents happen here.
