A row of six striking brick Renaissance-style salt warehouses along the banks of the Trave River in Lübeck, Germany, next to the Holsten Gate. Constructed between 1579 and 1745 to store salt from Lüneburg—then exported via the Stecknitz Canal—they symbolize Lübeck's wealth and importance in the Hanseatic League. Today, these UNESCO-listed buildings house shops and cultural spaces, while still reflecting their medieval trading heritage
