Coelacanth is member of the oldest living order of fish, Sarcopterygii (lobe-finned fish and tetrapods). Latimeria chalumnae and the Latimeria menadoensis are the only two living coelacanth species, which are found along the coastlines of the Indian Ocean and Indonesia. The coelacanth is considered a “living fossil”.
