This plant is a Licuala Palm, often referred to as a Fan Palm due to its unique, pleated, fan-shaped leaves. It's a striking presence in the humid, shaded corner of my backyard. The plant is growing directly from the rich, dark soil, surrounded by a carpet of green groundcover and other foliage. The moist environment and the presence of older, decaying leaves on the ground provide the perfect conditions for this palm to thrive, giving it a lush, healthy appearance as a natural, uncultivated resident of my backyard.
