| Lia Van Leer engages Italian actor Marcello Mastroianni at the Cinematheque at the 4th Annual Jerusalem International Film Festival in Israel on July 2, 1987. Van Leer was the driving force behind the annual July film event and the founder of the Haifa, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem Cinematheques which pioneered art film programming in the nation. Van Leer won the Israel Prize in 2004 for lifetime achievement in her work which benefited society and the State of Israel. She died at 90 on March 13, 2015 in Jerusalem. |
