The Jingzaijiao Tile-Paved Salt Fields is the first salt field in Beimen and the oldest surviving tile-paved salt field site. Originally the Letong Salt Fields during the Qing Dynasty, it was relocated to its current location in 1818 and has not been moved since. It consists entirely of tile-paved salt fields, presenting a beautiful mosaic-like artwork. Due to the high cost of manual labor, the salt-making industry ended in 2002 after 338 years, leaving the salt fields here abandoned for a period of time. Later, in order to continue the salt-making culture, the salt field was restored and has now become the most distinctive attraction along the coast of Tainan. The beautiful colors of the daily sunset reflected in the sky on the tile-paved salt fields, together with the endless horizon and clouds of the Beimen Lagoon, always attract numerous photographers and tourists to admire the view. Not only does it revive the memories of local residents' lives, but it has also become a place for tourists to experience the fun of making, picking, and collecting salt. The daily sunset at Jingzaijiao Salt Fields offers a different and unique view, making it an essential destination for those visiting the Tainan coast.
