Lake Tondano is the largest lake in North Sulawesi Province, which is flanked by the Lembean Mountains, Mount Kaweng, Tampusu Hill, and Mount Masarang. This lake is a freshwater fish producing lake with an area of 43 square kilometers and there are small islands called Likri and Babi Island. It is said that this lake occurred because of a terrible eruption where there was a story of a pair of humans of different sexes who violated their parents' prohibition to marry by running away to the forest. As a result of violating their parents' advice, the twin of Mount Kaweng erupted and became Lake Tondano. Lake Tondano has famous tourist attractions Sumaru Endo, Bukit Pinus Tourism Resort, Tikus Cave, Bukit Lembean and Pondok Kinakas as well as Tontimomor Boulevard which divides the vast expanse of rice fields.
