A common sight in Sri Lanka, the land monitor lizard is widespread throughout the island. An omnivorous reptile, the Sri Lankan land monitor feeds on a mix of fruit, carrion, spiders, snails, crabs, and frogs. Land monitors are oviparous and tend to either bury their eggs or leave them in rotting tree stumps.
