Lake Billy Chinook was formed by the 1964 construction of Round Butte hydroelectric dam on the Deschutes River downstream from its confluence with the Crooked and Metolius Rivers, within a 400 foot deep canyon cut through volcanic basalt layers. The area now encompasses the Cove Palisades State Park, west of Culver, Oregon. Photo taken May 10th, 2009.
