Adon-Chelon is the youngest cluster of the reserve, located almost 40 km northeast of the main territory of the reserve. Three small mountain plots with a total area of 1,032 hectares received nature protection status in 1992. Another 7540 hectares is occupied by a security zone around them. The total area of the massif, stretching for 12 km in a north-easterly direction, is about 140 km2. The mountain range is known by various names: Adon-Chelon, Adun-Chelon, Adun-Chilon, Kukusyrken. The name comes from the Mongolian words `adun adan` - translated as `herd` and ` chelon shuluun` - translated as `stone`
