| Gurpa hill, also known as Kukkutapada or Gurupadaka, is a Buddhist pilgrimage site located 26km southwest of Bodhgaya, in Bihar, India. The mountain is said to be the site where the Buddha's preeminent disciple, Mahakassapa, is said to be waiting for the future Buddha, Maitreya to arrive on earth. Many Buddhist pilgrims including the renowned 7th century Chinese monk Xuanzang have visited the site. |
