Krafla Viti Crater (Viti means ’Hell' as people used to be believe these craters were the entrances to hell) - It is a 300m diameter explosion crater filled with turquoise water, surrounded by a geothermal area with smoke rising from numerous vents in the Krafla volcanic area. This particular Viti was formed in 1734 by a massive eruption Myvatnseldar volcano that lasted five years - North Icela
