The Kot Diji Fort, a massive hilltop fortress constructed by Tālpur ruler Sohrāb Khān in the early 19th century formally known as Fort Ahmadabad, is located at the archaeological and historical site of the early Harappan period, which dates to about 3500 bce in the town of Kot Diji in Khairpur District, Pakistan about 25 miles east of the Indus River at the edge of the Nara-Rajisthan Desert.
