| The Grand Hotel was built around 1900 directly opposite the railway station. Gold was discovered in the 1890`s and the town gazetted in 1900. The town had a population of 2320 with 400 buildings, with swimming pool and seven hotels. Today the hotel is the last surviving business dependent on visitors and tourists. |
